Kruja (32 km north to Tirana) is best known
as the place Albania's national hero, 
Skanderbeg successfully resisted the
Ottomans for nearly 25 years (1443 - 1468).  

Kruja is also a tourist attraction in a
spectacular mountainside location. 
The Skanderbeg museum is located
inside the castle.

occupied Kruja in 1396 and 1415, but after
Skanderbegs return Kruja became 
famous all over Europe for its resistance.

Kruja has a population of about 20,000. 
The town rises 560 meters above sea level, 
on the slopes of Sari -Salltiku mountain
