Lakes:
Macedonia has 53 natural or artificial lakes. The largest are lake
Ohrid and lake Prespa.
National
parks:
Galichica, Mavrovo, Pelister and Jasen, total area of about 110,000
hectares.
Mountain
peaks:
34 peaks exceeding 2,000 meters above sea level. The highest is Mount
Golem Korab 2,753 m., Titov Vrv in the Shar Mountains is 2,748 m., while
the peak of Turchin in the same range reaches 2,702 m.
Ski
resorts: Popova Shapka
(1845m) and Mavrovo.
Spas:
Bansko
(Strumica), Debar, Negorci (Gevgelija) and Kechovica (Shtip).
Churches:
The oldest and the most renowned are the churches of St. Sophia and the
Holy Virgin of Perivleptos in Ohrid, the church of the Holy Saviour in
Skopje, the church of St. George in Kurbinovo, and also the monasteries of
St. Pantelejmon at Nerezi near Skopje.
Mosques
and other oriental heritage:
Kurshumli An caravansarai, the Daut Pasha Baths, the Mustapha Pasha Mosque
in Skopje and the Painted (colored) Mosque in Tetovo.
